What Buwa ko Mukh Herne Din is
Buwa ko Mukh Herne Din means the day to see your father's face. It is Nepal's Father's Day, and it falls on the new moon (aunsi) in the dark fortnight of Bhadra, in late August or September. It follows the lunar calendar, so it does not fall on the June date used in the US.
It is also called Kushe Aunsi, because families bring fresh kush grass into the house on this day, and Gokarna Aunsi, after Gokarneshwar Mahadev, the cow-eared form of Shiva honoured at a temple on the north-eastern edge of Kathmandu.
